Intro…

Hi, All!

Welcome to the new section on my site. I figured it might be a good idea to introduce myself.

I’m Robin. No need to refer to me with formality. I’m a therapist trained in sex therapy. My journey in the world of sexuality education started early and informally. I have memories of reading age-appropriate feminist literature as early as 9 years old. I was also reading lots of feminist-oriented magazines that weren’t age-appropriate at the time. It was the 90s. My intro to feminism occurred as second-wave ideology started to fade and third-wave emerged.

More formally, I started using my writing to engage in sexuality education as early as 2005. Prior to that (and in conjunction), I also had worked with Planned Parenthood as a PR intern and had the opportunity to offer informal education to customers in spaces that focused on sexual pleasure.

In 2009, by some miracle, I was accepted to the dual degree masters’ program at Widener University in Chester, PA (a small suburb of Philadelphia, PA). During my time in the Human Sexuality and Social Work programs, I focused my academic writing on feminized sexuality and how it is controlled by sex-shaming language. I also focused my clinical learning on populations who violated sexual consent and perpetrated intimate partner violence. The two concepts are often viewed as separate, but they are inextricable. I hope to continue to better educate folks about those overlaps and inspire self reflection.

I started a private practice in 2022 with the goals of supporting my writing endeavors and offering clients the kind of services I value: frank, solution-focused, engaging, and growth-oriented. I want to create a safe space for people who are often overlooked in therapy settings to get support. I also want to return to my writing roots.

So, welcome. Let’s see how all of this goes….
